Rachel Freer (she/her) is a Senior Research Associate at the Center for Community Resilience at the Milken Institute School of Public Health. Rachel supports research efforts for Resilience Catalysts in Public Health, designed to assist local health departments (LHDs) operate as chief health strategists to build resilience and work with cross-sector partners to address root causes of inequities in their local communities. She has a passion for systems-level thinking and change, working with LHDs to perform root cause analysis and developing models to provide data and visualizations for equitable outcomes.
Prior to joining CCR, Rachel spent three years as a Technical Services Engineer at Epic Systems, providing technical assistance and project management support to large health systems across the United States. Most recently, she analyzed birth data from a reproductive health center to design and create a report evaluating racial equity in obstetrics outcomes. Rachel holds a Master of Public Health in Health Promotion from the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
