Sarah Baldauf (she/her) is Senior Government Relations & Policy Advisor at the Center for Community Resilience at George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health. She helps lead the Center's Policy Lab, which works to inform policy that fosters equity and trauma-informed practice, and enables all children, families, and communities to thrive. She develops strategic bi-partisan relationships with Congressional offices and government officials and helps build shared understanding around the Pair of ACEs and the ways they show up in policymakers' jurisdictions. She also provides policy guidance, support, and recommendations to CCR network partners.  

Sarah has been part of CCR's work since 2016. Her previous CCR contributions include helping co-write and edit the 2022 update to the Communications & Coalition Building Guide (as well as the 2016 version), the Fostering Equity Guide, the Pair of ACEs & Resilience Trees Primer, and the Policy & Advocacy Guide. She’s presented in multiple workshops and webinars on these topics, helped support CCR's Truth & Equity pilot in Cincinnati, and has managed CCR's media relations, helping earn coverage in outlets including the Washington Post, BET, and the Cincinnati Enquirer

Her previous experience includes serving as a political appointee in the Obama Administration as Director of Public Health Initiatives in the office of public affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to that, she served as Communications Director for Rep. Jan Schakowsky (IL-9) and Rep. Pete Stark (CA-15), and was also a health reporter at US News & World Report in Washington, DC.
