Dr. Stephanie Yates is a Professor of Finance, the Chairperson of the Department of Accounting and Finance and the Endowed Professor and Director of the Regions Institute for Financial Education in the Collat School of Business at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Yates earned her B.S. in Marketing, M.B.A. in Accounting and M.A. in International Economics from the University of Cincinnati. She earned her Ph.D. in Finance from Louisiana State University. She is also an Accredited Financial Counselor ®, a CERTIFIED FINANCIALPLANNER ™, and a Registered Financial Consultant ®.

In 2007, Dr. Yates joined UAB earning tenure in 2012. In 2015 and 2016, Dr. Yates became the Director of the Regions Institute for Financial Education and named Endowed Professor, respectively. In 2020, Dr. Yates was promoted to the rank of full professor and in 2021, she was appointed Chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance at UAB.
